Tchefuncta Country Club, a beautiful golf course community located in southern Louisiana, is seeking for a qualified individual for a full time Horticulturist position.

The selected candidate will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.  The Horticulturist will be responsible for the daily operations outside of the Clubhouse and in the Golf Course property including, but not limited to:

Plan, schedule, supervise and actively participate in maintaining and enhancing permanent and seasonal garden/landscape plantings through weed and pest control, pruning, planting, mulching, feeding, grooming, etc.
Must be able to effectively communicate with residents, golfers and guests at the property in a professional manner
Able to design and install seasonal plant displays for exhibit or education
Required to maintain records, files and inventory as related to the position and expectations
Assist with other grounds maintenance activities including, but not limited to, removal and disposal of trash, leaf clean up, water removal, holiday/seasonal displays and general maintenance of golf course
Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner
Supervises and directs grounds personnel by establishing schedules, assigning tasks, monitoring and reviewing projects to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
Required to maintain and operate irrigation and drainage systems.
Records the application of pesticides and maintains a MSDS record of the chemicals store in the facility
Must be able to supervise associates effectively and lead the team by example


Minimum Qualifications:

Must have high school diploma; associate or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture (or related field) preferred.
Three to five years of work related experience (or equivalent education).
A valid driver license.
Must obtain Louisiana pesticide applicators license within 90 days.


Physical Demands:

Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to safely operate a variety of mechanically powered equipment, manual and power hand tools used in horticulture, farming and agriculture. Must also be able to work safely in an environment requiring frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasionally required to work under inclement weather conditions.
